Clean and Fresh Home Decor

Well Christmas is over and our Christmas tree has said goodbye. Things are pretty much packed away and as usual, I find myself longing for simplicity in my home.
I feel drawn to white, peaceful spaces with a little punch of color here and there. Mostly I feel like my house wants to breath after being chock full of Christmas wonder. Not that I don’t like Christmas wonder, but I rather like it more in December.
I’m inspired by these spaces right now, they seem peaceful and airy. But I’m sure if there was this much white in my house there would be a multitude of grimy handprints everywhere. Someday, that won’t be the case. Right now this much white seems downright unpractical.

I love this livable room. The punches of color and cozy pillows look just right. I love the table, though if that were at my house I’m pretty sure it would be used a car or worse, a sister launching device.

And this one just make me smile. I love those red chairs and the green lamp. I’ve had a hankering to spray paint a few of my lamps for a while, I’ll probably have to wait until warmer weather hits. I think the neighbors have come to expect me dragging out a tarp, a few cans of spray paint and some random thrift store find on the first warm day of the year. I guess it’s just tradition now.

For now I’m just moving things around and trying to get a fresh look without buying anything. I’m also putting a few less things back out and packing a few things away. And I’m totally searching for inspiration all along the way.
Do you like to simplify this time of year?

  1. Love to simplify! My girls are catching on though and ask "Where did --- go?" I love the white rooms and agree that children could reek havoc in rooms like those. Would be nice to see your new fresh look.
