My Bedroom Has the Blues

I started painting yesterday.  I was hoping for a bit of a cloudy day in my room, but I got more of dirty robin’s egg blue.  In some lights it’s gray, it some it’s more blue.  At any rate I’m not completely sold.
So I started looking online for some inspiration.  I was concerned that the blue would be too girly and prissy-a little more country than modern.  And I don’t really want girly, because I live with a man.  A wonderful manly man who I’m pretty sure doesn’t want to sleep on a field of flowery flowers.  Oh I know he doesn’t really have that strong of a decorating preference, but he does live here too.
I found some inspiration that reminded that the look of a room can totally change depending on the details.

So I’m going to look at it today with an eye for the extra details.  I think it’ll work.
Here’s the blue on one wall, I’ve got all white bedding and will be adding in different accessories.  What accessories I’m not too sure.

So what would you add to a master bedroom this color blue to give it a more modern feel?  Or would you just repaint it all together more gray?

  1. I like the color! :) It looks very pleasing. To add some modern, add some black with maybe little hints of orange or red. Have fun!

  2. I think it looks great too. I was coming over to say that black accents would be the perfect addition. And my favorite color combo of all time is aqua and red, see if you can add some red in there for a little punch.

  4. I love the color, I think that grey would have the room looking a little dreary. I love blue/brown, blue/red and blue/linen combos. I can't wait to see the finished product!

  6. My master is a very similar color and I have brown, red, and yellow with it. Very subtle hints of both the red and yellow, and the brown is the stain on the furniture and curtain color. I have a post coming soon about a few accent pillows from CSN with that color combo in it. Check it out!

  7. you could easily add in gray and tans through your bedding and prints on the walls--I don't think it's too feminine, it just needs a boost..

  9. On my monitor the color looks great. If you really don't like it though, I would find some object you love as your inspiration and go from there. Good luck!

  11. When the weather warms up, we're painting our room a similar blue with a khaki ceiling (but need to carefully choose a khaki that doesn't turn spring green next to the blue walls, with the reflection :) I love your color :)

  12. I love that blue! It's one of my favorites. With all white bedding, some black accents might add a touch of modern. A collage of black frames? My bedroom has builder beige walls {still} and everything else is white and cream. The furniture, however, is black. Black bookshelves for our nightstands and a black wicker headboard. It's still light and soothing but I do like the black touches.
