Build Your Own Fire Pit

This is a repost from last year, but with summer madly approaching and warm weather upon us all it seemed like a great idea to go here again.
Here would be our backyard’s humble little fire pit.  We love it, and we love s’mores. And we love sitting around it with a glass of something at the end of the day.

At the end of a long day last May I said to Zac, "The kids will be in bed early, wouldn't it be nice to have a fire pit to sit around-just the two of us?" I really didn't mean for him to get moving and build a fire pit, it was more of an observation than anything else. He said in reply, "I can do that." Out he went and ten minutes later it was done.
Now, we did have the rock sitting there, ready and waiting. And we were planning and making a fire pit someday. And we pretty much knew where it would go.
Just dig a deep enough hole, pile some rock and call it done. Of course, you should check your city's fire codes and all-please don't follow my advice cause I'm just in it for the s’mores. I don't know a thing about fire safety and city codes, but my man does. And that's why he's still out there, watching the dying coals.

Happy summering, and enjoy those s’mores!

  2. We have had a fireplace on our pavers under the maple tree for several years. A wonderful family thing, wonder why I never thought to send the kids to bed first? And Giant marshmallows from Freddies? That means you need giant Hershey bars, etc, yum. Now if it would only quit raining and get on with summer!
