I have to admit I was a little nervous at having a 3rd grader, 1st grader and kindergartener all at the same time.  But my amazing friend Jen gave us a sample schedule that showed me that I could in fact pull this off.  With her amazing scheduling abilities and God’s grace I know I can do this.
I don’t talk too much about our homeschool journey mostly because sometimes I feel like I’m just making it up as I go.  I feel like I don’t have much to share that would be helpful to others, and honestly because sometimes it’s not a very pretty picture.  You can see our school room and guess that we might have a clue what we’re doing, or that I might be a super star teacher but you’d be wrong.  We’re just one family, teaching our kids at home to the best of our abilities.  We do it because it we know it’s what we are supposed to be doing right now, and we do it because we enjoy having the privilege of teaching our own kids at home.  You’ll notice that I’m saying “we” a lot here, it’s not just me as a teacher, my husband is as much in this as I am too.  And when his work schedule allows for it, he’s helping me with lessons or with discipline or with laundry.  I can’t even begin to say how amazing that is to me and how grateful I am for it.  I could not do this without his help, support and prayers.
And so tomorrow we’ll be off and away on another school year, I am looking forward to it.  I also know that it will be tough sometimes, but for every day that’s difficult there are several that are not.  For every frustrating lesson there are a handful that are so rewarding.  For every tear cried (by student or teacher) there are lots of laughs.  In the end I think it all balances out, and did I mention this?  This high calling as a mom/teacher is so worth it to me.  (even when it’s hard)

So say a prayer for us tomorrow friends, we’re off on a new adventure!
