Christmas on Purpose: take Jesus with you

You have to go shopping.  You have to run errands.  You have to go to parties.  In all of the running around you can still find purpose and meaning, you really can.
Take Jesus with you as you go.  Pray specifically during these occasions.  Pray for God to open your eyes to see Jesus in everything.  Because he’s there.  He came to earth as a baby, grew up to be a man, died on the cross, rose again and went up to heaven.  He didn’t do that so that we would be unaware of him, he wants us to notice him.  And he longs for us to be aware of his presence.
Sometimes I wonder about how much God is trying to say to me, and how much of that I really notice.  When the line at the store takes way too long, is he trying to keep me where I am for a reason?  To speak to a certain person who needs his grace, to protect me from an accident on the way home, to line up the schedule of my day with his plans?  I’ll never know if I never ask.  This season I’m longing to be aware of the places where his spirit is moving, I long to be able to look around and actually notice his presence.  To be in a crowded room and notice where he is moving.  To hear his still small voice in the bustle of the season.  All we have to do is ask for him to open our eyes to see his reality.  That’s a challenge I’m willing to embrace, especially in these next few days where my schedule is very full.  I want to see him, I want to be aware of him with me.  Emmanuel, God with us.  God with me.  God with you.
