Painted Kitchen Cabinets: or the cheapest kitchen redo ever {an update}

Way, way back in 2009 I redid my kitchen cabinets. That was four years ago. Four. How does time go so fast?
Well, this isn't about how quickly times goes by.
This is an update on the project. I first posted about it here. And because it's my most popular post ever I thought now would be a good time to revisit it. And since then we put in new floors and painted the walls, so I figure if nothing else it's time for new pictures.
So back in 09 I wanted some change on the cheap. After lots of thought and deliberation I choose the paint and got to work. This isn't a how to, I'm sure you can find much better tips and tricks than I can offer here.

But what I can offer is that push. If you've wondered about painting your cabs. If you've been curious, but nervous to take the leap. Just do it. Because after 4 years I still love them. It is by far my most favorite update of our house.
In reality, these aren't perfect. I'm not a professional painter. I do have to touch them up from time to time, usually on those doors that get a lot of wear. But other than that, I'm still thrilled. Still in love with the way they look.
They make me happy, it's that simple. And shouldn't a kitchen do that to a girl?

  1. Can I paint cheap particle board cabinets?

    1. That I'm not sure of Kristine. If nothing else maybe just try a small test area and see how it works? I think the most important thing I did was sand and prime them really well. I'm not sure how that would work with particle board.

I love to hear from you! Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts with me.
