I’ve been talking a lot about this family thing from the perspective of a two parent household; dad, mom, and kids. But I know that there are many single parent homes out there. It's not just not being married that makes one a single, sometimes there's a spiritual singleness. Sometimes God loving moms and dads are their children’s sole spiritual support, even when there’s another parent around.
"I suppose for me it all comes down to having Jesus as my backup as a parent. When I am not available for my son I have asked him to rely on Jesus for comfort and counsel. I believe raising a child to love God and love people is a choice. I chose to bring my son to church every Sunday because I wanted him to be surrounded by an environment that taught morals, values, and spirituality. When my son was dedicated to God I realized that maybe I wasn't a single mother after all; the church prayed and pledged to help me raise him. I think at that point I realized God is not just working from some big office above the earth called Heaven; I realized that heaven is indeed alive on earth and working through people with the help of the Holy Spirit and an army of Angels. I could go on and on about how God has provided as my husband and a father to my son. I was a raised by a single mother; she brought me to church too. It was my mother's prayers and my son that led me back to Christ. I want my son to have a foundation in Christ; because as Proverbs 22:6 states "even when he is old he will not depart from it."
